AbilityNet : Adapting Technology - Changing Lives
UK's largest provider of independent advice and information on all aspects making ICT accessible for people with a disability or limiting condition.
AbilityNet provides free information and advice, individual assessment of technology needs, the supply of assistive technology with free support, a programme of awareness education, and consultancy for employers on system and workstation adaptations and web accessibility.
AbilityNet is funded by grants and donations from charitable trusts and companies, and fees charged for its professional services. Fee work with employers, and the DfEE's Disability Service, to assess computing needs for disabled employees and potential employees, provides useful income to support the free help given to individuals by both national and regional centres. The cost of supply and support of assistive technology is almost self-funded by sales.
