Your Enablement Service (YES)
A service for people in Lomond area with physical impairments due to neurological disease
The main aim of the service is to assist these people to live as active and fulfilling a life as possible.
The service is there for anyone age 16-65 years who suffers a physical disability caused by a neurological condition e.g. previous stroke, M.S., Parkinson’s disease etc. but excluding head injuries as there is a service already running in the area for this specific group. The area covered by the YES team is known as Lomond area and includes Dumbarton, Helensburgh, Alexandria, Kilcreggan, Garelochhead and Arrochar.
The team of health professionals currently involved includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists and medical input from a GP. This team has links with other services e.g. dietician, continence nurse, community occupational therapists etc.
The service is based in the Renton Integrated Healthy Living Centre which offers facilities for group meetings, exercise classes and a “Drop in” area with computer access and information points, as well as providing the clinical centre for assessments and treatment. Two GP practices operate from the Centre as will as ancilliary health services.
The service provided will vary depending on individual needs – from telephone advice to full assessment and rehabilitation programmes.
